Inktober 20171001

It’s the first day of Inktober. I’ll be posting a new inked drawing everyday for the month of October.

According to the origin of the Inktober the challenge the rules are as follows:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it online

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2017

4) Repeat

I’ll be doing a very fast and loose blue-line sketch for my drawings but will fill in more details as I ink.

These drawings will also be on my Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feeds.

You can see so many amazing drawings by checking out the hashtags on Instagram and Twitter. It’s inspiring!

Sketching Aku – Live Stream and Time Lapse

I’ve recently started re-watching all of Samurai Jack via Hulu which inspired me to do some quick sketching of the infamous Aku.

While watching the show, I had live-streamed some of the sketching via Instagram, but then after an hour I switched to just time lapse recording on my phone. Here is the result of about 3 hours of sketching.

Wow, what luck! Not one…or two (seen here) but THREE juvenile Barred Owls in Forest Park. We were riding back for the night, nearly finished with our ride when we saw a large bird fly in front of us. Then a second. As we stopped to take photos, a third owl perched right above our heads. All three were making screeeeeeeches every 10 seconds or so as if they were calling for another. Maybe calling for the parents to feed them? They didn’t seem too phased by the two of us on bicycles or the 6 others that rode by. They stared, but never got jumpy.
